USA Network has picked up a show produced by The Rock about bodybuilders in Los Angeles in the 80s and it’s going to be called Muscle Beach.
It seems that barely a day goes by without Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making headlines for something cool he’s working on. I guess getting up at ungodly hours will help you do that (tomorrow his wakeup time is 5:30a.m. according to the Rock Clock app).
Just a couple days ago he came out with the first episode for his YouTube channel, and it’s already got 2.3 million views, and counting…
But there’s no stopping The Rock on his quest to takeover Hollywood and potentially America.
Besides his HBO show Ballers and acting in the insanely popular Fast and the Furious franchise, The Rock is working on a new show for USA Network called Muscle Beach.
Here’s how The Rock pitched the show when he announced it on Instagram: “Muscle Beach is set in a legendary bodybuilding gym in 1980’s Venice Beach where a colorful tribe of lost souls struggle to reinvent themselves by bench-pressing their way to a bigger, better American dream, no matter what the cost. As the series explores the body obsessed fitness movement that took the nation by storm during the supersized Reagan 80’s, the excess of the era and the many temptations of Los Angeles will expose the dark side of chasing dreams.”
